This TikTok Artist Imagines Snow White With Euphoria Makeup
Please cue the Euphoria soundtrack, because I need to set the mood for some amazing makeup. You've probably seen the glitter tears and rhinestone-encrusted beauty looks inspired by the HBO show on TikTok recently, but user Lexi Ganong (aka @lexi_g16 online) is taking the trend a step further by bringing Disney into the mix.
The 21-year-old musical theatre student joined TikTok back in March 2020 after her university went on an extended spring break at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. She took note of the cosplay, the glam makeup, and the styling videos she'd see while browsing the app, and realised she could bridge two worlds with her talents. "I think I already had Euphoria on the brain when I came across the Disney princess cosplay side of TikTok," she told POPSUGAR. "I suddenly had a 'Eureka!' moment to combine the two."
Ganong is a longtime beauty lover, and her passion for makeup is apparent in each of the videos she posts. So far, she's re-imagined Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Anna from Frozen, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Tinker Belle from Peter Pan, and Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Ganong is a longtime Disney fan and a dedicated Euphoria viewer (she watched the first season twice, and her favourite character is Rue, by the way!) so the response to her content has been encouraging. Her videos definitely hit home with fandoms from both camps, earning her hundreds of thousands of views. "I hoped people would like them, but the videos have gotten way more attention than I expected!" she said. "I love the TikTok makeup community because it is so creative, collaborative and encourageing."
She has some very specific products that help her achieve the larger-than-life sparkling, sequinned energy we're used to seeing from Maddy or Jules onscreen. Ganong swears by Duo Lash Adhesive for sticking anything on her face — whether it be rhinestones, sequins, or puff balls. She'll also combine her Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturiser from Colourpop ($14) and Makeup Revolution's Conceal and Define Concealer ($7) to get "the perfect natural glow" and let her freckles shine through. "It's never been about concealing or covering up parts of me that I don't like, but rather an extension or embellishment of myself," Ganong said. We'd like her to say it a little louder for the people in the back!
Check out all the looks Ganong has shared so far, and fingers crossed for more. Spoiler: she told us she's tackling a villain next!
