If you missed the 2023 Met Gala on 1 May for some reason, let us fill you in on the big beauty moments everyone can't stop talking about. First, the theme was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," as a tribute to the late designer. Then, Lil Nas X was giving ice-prince realness wearing a full body of paint and crystals, courtesy of Pat McGrath. Florence Pugh showed off a fresh buzz cut, which was accessorised by a stunning headpiece. But one of the hands-down best moments of the night was when Doja Cat appeared on the red carpet as Choupette, Lagerfeld's cat.

No, we're not just talking about some cat ears and fuzzy paws. The rapper was in full feline facial prosthetics and even answered a few interview questions asked of her with a simple "meow." Created by special-effects makeup artist Malina Stearns, the mold took a few tries to get right before the star wore it. "Big shout out to @mannylemusfx for handling the molds on this and doing a last minute clay pour so I could do a resculpt and make some changes," Stearns's caption read, in part. "Thanks to my friend @jackeffects who was able to smooth the edges back down for me after the sculpt was floated off its original cast while I was in South America." The night of the gala, after the mold was successfully applied, it took an additional four hours of glam to create the look we saw on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Doja Cat finished the look with a "claw" french manicure and an Oscar de la Renta gown that sparkled with every step she took. It's not often that we see facial prosthetics on red carpets, as they take a notoriously long time to accomplish, but this endeavour was well worth it in our opinion. If anyone was going to do it, it would be Doja Cat — the same person who wore 30,000 Swarovski crystals to Paris Couture Week.
