In today's bizarre news, Elon Musk is the latest to join the resurgence of celebrity fragrances. After first introducing Burnt Hair, "The Essence of Repugnant Desire," on Sunday, the Tesla founder officially released the scent on Tuesday evening. Sold exclusively in the US on The Boring Company, his infrastructure and tunnel construction services company, the perfume costs $100, and can also be purchased with dogecoin.

"With a name like mine, getting into the fragrance business was inevitable."

While we can't say we've ever wondered what the richest man in the world smells like, or what he deems alluring for that matter, others are apparently intrigued. Musk, whose Twitter bio now reads "Perfume Salesman," claims he's already sold 10,000 units, including 5,000 in less than two hours following his launch. Though scent notes and ingredients have not yet been shared, it's described as "Just like leaning over a candle at the dinner table, but without all the hard work." The site also claims you'll "get noticed as you walk through the airport," though it's unclear if they're referring to the good kind of discernible.

This isn't the first time Musk has ventured into . . . strange merchandise. From surfboards priced at $1,500 to SpaceX-branded onesies, the business magnate has pretty much covered every corner of the market. Back in 2020, he also sold red satin short-shorts with "S3XY" written across the back, which ended up crashing the website. And there was the Teslaquilla, a $250 bottle of Tesla-branded tequila in a bottle shaped like a lightning bolt. The story behind his most recent pursuit? "With a name like mine, getting into the fragrance business was inevitable – why did I even fight it for so long!?" Musk tweeted.
