Florence Pugh's Micro Ponytail Ushers In a New Hair Trend

Florence Pugh Introduces a New Hair Trend: The Micro Ponytail

Florence Pugh tested out an edgy new hairstyle during Paris Fashion Week. While attending the Valentino runway show on 1 Oct., the actor wore her platinum-blonde pixie cut spiked up on the top and slicked back on the sides into what we're dubbing a micro ponytail.

We nearly missed the teeny-tiny tuft of hair at first glance, instead focusing on the pastel-pink suit and bow crop top she wore in the front row next to Andrew Garfield. But Pugh's petite ponytail enjoyed its time in the spotlight when she later shared photos from the event on Instagram. "Love a cute little sneak-attack pony," one fan commented on her post, while another jokingly wrote, "My Little Pony (tail)."

Pugh's badass updo is the handiwork of celebrity hairstylist Peter Lux, whose clientele includes the likes of Dua Lipa, Simone Ashley, and Hari Nef. He added texture to the hair on top of Pugh's head and secured the ends at the nape of her neck with a black elastic. The ponytail is a bit too short to be considered a rat tail; rather, it's an entirely new hairstyle idea for anyone growing out a buzz cut like Pugh is.

Since debuting her shaved head at the Met Gala in May, the star has experimented with different looks, slicking her hair all the way back, spiking it up like Guy Fieri, and dyeing it various colours, including pink, orange, and icy blond. Perhaps a micro bun is up next on Lux's docket once Pugh's hair grows out a wee bit more?

Considering Pugh's trendsetting ways — she was wearing naked dresses a whole year before they became ubiquitous in 2023, after all — we wouldn't be surprised if micro ponytails become A Thing™ soon. Can't you totally picture Emma Corrin conquering the daring trend once their buzz cut starts growing out? This one's yours for the taking, short-haired crew.
