Molly Sims really loves talking about skin care — and with all the years she's spent working across sets and experimenting with just about every beauty trick in the book (some with more consequences than others), she's also uniquely qualified to speak on the subject. Her love for all things beauty is what inspired her to launch her own lifestyle podcast, "Lipstick on the Rim," which covers everything from new skin-care trends to procedures — and has quickly become a cult-favourite among beauty influencers and celebrities alike. It's also what empowered her to pour her years of skin-care lessons and insights into her own brand, YSE Beauty (pronounced "wise," which pays homage to the label's ethos).

YSE isn't designed to fit the mold of today's typical celebrity beauty brand — which is probably why it has managed to garner such a dedicated base of shoppers who, like Sims, feel inspired to reclaim their skin after years of feeling hostage to it.

"My skin struggles really started after I had my first baby in 2012. And if you have hyperpigmentation or discoloration, you know that it's not just one fix or [saying], 'Oh, I'm done. Oh, we were good.' It's always a problem, so it comes down to how you tame it," Sims says. For her, YSE aims to be a solution for taming skin-care concerns on a wide spectrum, whether it be discoloration or a lack of hydration. As she puts it: "I knew that I didn't want this to be like an influencer brand or a private label. I get to try so many incredible products and I work with so many incredible people — and I really wanted this to be at that same level."

YSE Beauty features your usual menu of products like retinol serums, cleansers, and brightening primers, among many other thoughtfully created formulas. But unlike other mainstream beauty brands — namely the ones pandering to the Gen Z crowd — Sims's YSE Beauty is rooted in a belief that experience and time are really the greatest teachers when it comes to figuring out what works (and perhaps more importantly, what doesn't work) for your skin.

"I got all of my education living in Europe, living in Paris, getting to go to great dermatologists, getting to go work with great makeup artists and estheticians — so I got that breadth of knowledge firsthand," says Sims. "I have had a lot of trial and error. But I feel at a really good place with this line. I feel that it is a routine that works, that is efficacious, that is beautiful, and doesn't take itself so seriously."

We had the opportunity to chat with Sims about her ever-evolving skin-care journey, the process of launching her own brand, and all of the products she can't live without — including a bevy of beauty essentials like a percussive skin-care device and a stylish cosmetics case.
