Playful Nail Art

The trend: Playful Nail Art

The breakdown: If anyone out there was thinking that nail art went away — think again! Though the art has taken a more streamlined, simplified turn, it's definitely not going anywhere soon. At Tadashi Shoji, models wore burgundy nail polish with a metallic sheen finish, which was then topped with a black fishnet-like material. Nails were bedazzled with Swarovski crystals by the Deborah Lippman team at Creatures of Comfort, and at Naeem Khan digits got an oil slick-meets-chrome treatment via press-ons. Pictured above is the neon animal print nails created by Miss Pop and Essie at Jeremy Scott.

Get the look: For the nails pictured here, we got the full scoop and a demonstration backstage from Miss Pop herself. It's easier than it looks, too! Simply take your choice color — she used Essie Tart Deco, Play Date, and Bachelorette Bash — and lightly draw u-shapes all over the nail. Let it dry, then seal with a top coat. If you prefer nail art easier than that, there are always press-ons!
