If you have excess scalp and product buildup, you might want to use it twice, but it effectively rinses off the HoliRoots oil. The Fable & Mane HoliRoots Hydrating Shampoo left my roots feeling clean but not stripped. My hair and scalp felt nourished and moisturised. It smells like warm cocoa butter.
