For a bolder effect that's sure to stand out from the crowd, choose a bold colour of highlights — think red or copper, bleached blond, or pink. The rest of the technique stays the same: ask your colourist to tone your roots in a darker colour, preferably one or two shades deeper than your natural base. By first depositing that darker pigment, you're creating a perfect backdrop for the brighter highlights being applied through the mids and ends.
