Rare Beauty Launches the Rare Impact Fund For Mental Health

Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty Just Launched a $100 Million Mental Health Initiative

When Selena Gomez announced the upcoming launch of her brand Rare Beauty back in February, her main goal was to change the conversation around beauty as it relates to mental health and self-acceptance, and on July 22, the singer showed just how committed she is to achieving that. Gomez celebrated her 28th birthday this year by sharing news that Rare Beauty is launching the Rare Impact Fund, an effort to raise $100 million for mental health services for underserved communities over the next 10 years. Once Rare Beauty officially launches, one percent of all product sales, as well as funds raised from partners, will be donated to the fund.

"I'm so grateful to be surrounded by a team that's helped make the Rare Impact Fund a reality," Gomez said in a statement. "Since the brand's inception, we wanted to find a way to give back to our community and further support people who needed access to mental health services, which have had a profound impact on my life. Rare Beauty is focussed on helping people feel more connected to one another and less alone in the world."

She continued, "The Rare Impact Fund will make a direct impact on many lives and, ultimately, make a difference in the world. I'm proud of the work we've begun to do with our partners to offer these services to anyone who needs support." Gomez has always been honest and transparent about how she deals with her mental health, so the announcement of this initiative is fitting, to say the least.

In addition to the fund, Rare Beauty has also created the Rare Beauty Mental Health Council — featuring expert advisors like Sad Girls Club founder and CEO Elyse Fox, Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Peoples-Wagner, psychiatrist Dr. Scott L. Rauch, MD, and more — to guide and advise the company "to ensure maximum impact."

Beginning this summer, Rare Beauty will be sold exclusively at Sephora stores in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and at all Sephoras inside JCPenney locations.
