This Viral Three-Dot Concealer Hack Gave Me a Makeshift Facelift

Over the years, the way I've done my makeup has changed drastically. Now, I have my routine pretty much solidified, but it wasn't always that way. There was a time before I learned how to fill in my eyebrows, when I had no a clue what contouring was, and when I couldn't stop applying my concealer in a huge upside-down triangle underneath my eyes. (Luckily, that trend faded out for me pretty quickly.)
Since then, I've been doing my concealer the same way for years, and to be completely honest, these days, I don't have a "technique." Essentially, I just place a bit of product underneath my eyes and then either blend it out using my fingers or a beauty sponge. There really is no rhyme or reason to it, and you can kind of tell from the results. They aren't bad, but they certainly aren't always great.
When I saw a new concealer hack shared by celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips making the rounds on social media, my interest was immediately piqued. Earlier this year, I tested out the contour technique she uses on Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber and it completely changed the way I do my makeup. I also learned how to over-line my lips from a viral TikTok video of hers explaining a foolproof method. So, to say I trust her makeup tips is a bit of an understatement.
Since I didn't need to purchase anything new to test out her hack, I gave it a go this weekend, and I was more than impressed with the results.

Step One: Conceal
I started out by placing a dot of the Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer ($31) at the corners of my nose, under the inner corner of my eye, and at the outer corner of my eye.
I was a little nervous when I saw how big Phillips "dots" were, only because I'm used to applying a very small amount of product underneath my eye to prevent creasing, but I opted to go for it to get the full experience.
Step Two: Blend
Next, I blended everything out using a beauty blender (my current favourite is the Original Beauty Blender ($20)), starting with my nose and working my way up and out toward my temple.
The end result not only brightened my under-eye but also gave my face a lifted effect that I never get when applying concealer. Everything looked seamless, well-blended,
I don't always have the best of luck with beauty hacks, but this one was more than worth the few minutes it took to test. It didn't add any extra steps to my routine, so it's something I plan on doing moving forward.
