I Tried This Undereye Mask Liquid Eyeliner Hack From TikTok, and Damn, It Works Well

It feels like every other week, I try a new makeup hack from TikTok, and the results are hit or miss. Some of them work wildly well — like that instant-facelift concealer trick — while others, I discover, aren't really my thing (I'm looking at you, foundation drip). But the other day, I saw a new one that I'd never seen before: someone used eye masks to create their winged liner.
I have a copious amount of undereye masks at my disposal, so I figured why not give it a go? That bobby-pin cat-eye liner trick blew me away with how simple it was, so I was hopeful this one would be a knockout, too.
Step 1: Apply the Under-Eye Masks
First things first, you need to apply your under-eye masks. I used the 111Skin Rose Gold Illuminating Eye Mask ($15). Because the masks need to be applied to clean skin, the liquid eyeliner needs to be the first step in your makeup routine. As someone who likes to do all of my base makeup and then my eyes, it felt a little backward.
You want to angle the eye masks so that the tail is touching the outer corner of your eye — that's your liquid liner guide. Once you have the placement down, it's time to grab your eyeliner.
Step 2: Draw on the Eyeliner
Now comes the tricky part — I suggest taking a deep breath before you begin. Using the Makeup By Mario Master Mattes Liquid Eyeliner ($22), I started to draw on my wing to the outer corner of my eye.
You still need a steady hand to ensure liquid liner doesn't end up all over your eyelid when doing the beginning of the liner but once you get to the wing, aka the part by the eye mask, you can go to town without worrying about it. The angle of the eye mask is supposed to make the wing smooth and sharp no matter what.
Step 3: Peel Off the Eye Masks
The Final Look
Once the rest of your makeup is done you'll see the eyeliner hack works great. It gives you small, subtle wings that look even on both sides. It would have taken me twice the amount of time to freehand it and with that, I'll definitely be trying this trick again.
