Another day, another food-based beauty trend going viral. A few months ago, it was "blueberry milk" nails, then it was "latte" makeup, and now, allow us to introduce you to the latest celebrity-approved trend that's all over our social media feeds: "tomato girl" makeup. While the former two might sound a lot more appetising than the latter, the newest craze is worth the hype.

As the name suggests, the trending makeup look is inspired by the colour of tomatoes, but it presents a lot better than it sounds. Celebrities like Hailey Bieber have already been seen embracing the style, and we have to admit, it looks great. Think a deep, natural-looking red-orange flush that makes it look like you just got back from a European holiday, only it doesn't cost thousands of dollars. Sounds nice, right?

Ahead, makeup experts are breaking break down everything to know about the tomato-girl makeup trend, including what it is and how you can re-create the look at home.

What Is Tomato-Girl Makeup?

"Tomato-girl makeup is all about a sun-kissed, reddish flush," Parris MacDonald, vice president of marketing at Black Radiance, tells POPSUGAR. "The look features a simple, glowy base and has an emphasis on blush applied from the temple, cheeks, and across the nose." As for the rest of your face, the look is extremely pared down. "It's a variation of the 'no-makeup makeup' look that enhances your natural features and colouring in a very seamless and minimalistic way," says Simone Otis, 19/99 Beauty lead makeup artist.

Although the trend began gaining traction in the summer, Drita Paljevic, head makeup artist at Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, says the look will still be going strong in fall, "because of the coziness that this sun-kissed look brings now that the weather is colder," she says. "We want to extend our connection to summer and the energy it boosts into fall."

Plus, it works for everyone — you can adjust the red hues being applied based on what best suits your undertone. "This makeup style suits everyone and is rather easy and quick to accomplish," says Emily Gray, celebrity makeup artist. In fact, Gray thinks we'll see even more of this look in fall because the colour red is trending.

Ready to embrace the look for your next night out? Re-creating the trend at home is easy. "Start by prepping the skin with a creamy and buildable complexion product," Otis says. "You want to add coverage where you would like it but also let your natural skin shine through." Gray suggests using a lightweight product like the Catrice Nude Drop Tinted Serum Foundation. From there, you can conceal any blemishes using your favourite concealer.

"Next, it's time to warm up your complexion with a cream bronzer," Gray says. Our current favourite is the Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer. Then, you'll want to go in with the red, which MacDonald says you should focus on the eyes, lips, and cheeks.

Since you want everything to be hydrating and light, we'd suggest using a cream blush like the Kevyn Aucoin Colour Stick in Blooming. "Tap [the product] onto the apples of the cheeks, along the bridge of the nose, and perhaps a touch on the centre of the forehead and on the chin," Otis says. Basically, you want to make it look like you just had a day in the sun. Next, Otis says you should blend everything out with your fingertips.

You can use the same cream blush to add colour to your eyelids as well as your lips, just make sure to blend everything out with your fingers. Then, add a dewy glow using a product like the 19/99 Beauty High Shine Gloss along the top of the cheekbones, on your cupid's bow, and down the centre of your nose.
