Aaron Taylor-Johnson Gives Rare Insight Into His Romance With Sam: "I’m Secure in What We Have"

The couple met on the set of their movie "Nowhere Boy," in which Aaron starred as John Lennon and Sam directed. "I remember it very, very clearly. I know exactly what she was wearing. This white shirt that she still has, that I love. It definitely changed my life, though not in the way I expected," Aaron recalled to Harper's Bazaar in 2019. According to the couple, the two "were very professional through the entire film." Sam added, "But everyone on set knew. And as soon as we finished, he told me he was going to marry me. We had never been on a date, or even kissed."

Aaron proposed to Sam exactly one year after they first met. "A year to the minute after we met, exactly one year to the minute, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me," he told Harper's Bazaar.

In July 2010, the couple became proud parents to daughter Wylda Rae. Wylda joined Sam's two daughters, Angelica and Jessie, from her previous marriage to Jopling.

The pair welcomed another daughter, Romy Hero, in January 2012. Five months later, they wed in Somerset and changed their last name to Taylor-Johnson. "I just don't see why women need to take the man's name," Aaron told The Evening Standard of the name change. "I wanted to be a part of her just as much as she wanted to be part of me."

Sam and Aaron tend to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, but in June 2022, Aaron revealed they renewed their vows for their 10th wedding anniversary. "Yesterday was the most beautiful day, summer solstice, our 10th anniversary . . . we renewed our vows to one another and confessed our love in front of our nearest and dearest friends and family it was a celebration of love and joy!" Aaron wrote on Instagram. "A decade of marriage. It was a magical unforgettable day and the sun did not stop shining on us both.. we are blessed beyond belief. ❤️ Sammy you are my love, my life, my soulmate, my wife, my world! ❤️."
