Barack Obama and Michelle Obama celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Monday with a sweet stroll on the beach that would leave even the most experienced rom-com writers swooning. In photos shared on their respective Instagram accounts, the pair walked barefoot through the sand and snuggled up in front of the bluffs with smiles on their faces. Beyond the photos, the couple's heartfelt Instagram captions were just as heartwarming as always.

"These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I'm grateful to have you by my side. Here's to a lifetime together."

"Happy anniversary to the man I love!" the former first lady captioned her post. "These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I'm grateful to have you by my side. Here's to a lifetime together. I love you, @BarackObama!" Feeling equally sentimental after three decades together, the former president wrote, "Miche, After 30 years, I'm not sure why you look exactly the same and I don't. I do know that I won the lottery that day — that I couldn't have asked for a better life partner. Happy anniversary, sweetheart!"

The carousels also included photos of a heart drawn in the sand with "Barack + Michelle" written in the centre, as well as black-and-white pictures from the Obamas' wedding day.

After meeting at law firm Sidley Austin LLP in 1989, it wasn't long before they went on their first rendezvous: an ice cream date that ended in a kiss. In 1991, the couple went to a restaurant in Chicago to celebrate Barack Obama passing the bar exam. That night, the former president proposed to Michelle Obama with a diamond ring hidden under a silver cloche. On Oct. 3, 1992, the pair were married at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the bride's brother, Craig Robinson, walked her down the aisle.

Three decades, two children, and two presidential terms later, Barack and Michelle Obama have more to celebrate than ever before. Most recently, on Sept. 7, the couple attended their official portrait unveiling at the White House, where they were joined by President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, as well as other friends and family members.
