Teigen and Legend first connected on the set of the singer's music video for "Stereo". The video features Teigen as Legend's love interest, and the two can be seen dancing and embracing throughout. According to a 2014 interview with Teigen on "The Wendy Williams Show," the "Cravings" author and Legend had an immediate spark, which led to them spending the night together that same day. "We spent the entire day together, me in my underwear and him in a full suit," she explained (via InStyle). "I went to go say goodbye to him, to his hotel, and we didn't ever say goodbye that night."

2011: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Get Engaged

After dating for five years, Legend decided to take his relationship with Teigen to the next level and propose during a Christmas holiday in the Maldives in December 2011. However, the entire surprise was nearly ruined by airport security. "[The ring] was in my carry-on bag going through airport security, and security wanted to look through my bag, and they wanted to look in that particular box," the musician shared in a 2013 interview on "Oprah's Next Chapter". "Chrissy was standing right next to me, and I was like, 'Oh, my God. I've hidden it so well this whole time. Now as we're just about to get to the Maldives, she's going to find out I have a ring in this box, and it's going to ruin the surprise, and I'll have to get on my knees in the airport.'"

Thankfully, security decided to not check the mysterious box, and Legend was able to propose the way he'd planned once they arrived in the Maldives.

2013: John Legend Releases "All of Me" About Chrissy Teigen

The year 2013 was a huge one for Legend and Teigen. It was the year the singer released his fourth album, "Love in the Future," and the year the couple got married. In August 2013, Legend's single "All of Me" was released, which, like the entire "Love in the Future" album, was dedicated to Teigen.

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of his album's release, Legend revealed the inspiration behind "Love in the Future," which, to no surprise, was his love for Teigen. "As I look back on 2013, the year we got married, it was also a beautiful time creatively for me. On 14 Sept., 2013, the couple made their union official in a ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, but days earlier, they actually got legally married in a New York City courthouse. In an interview with E! News, Teigen revealed, "We actually got married after going to a couple Fashion Week shows at Vera Wang, ironically who actually did my dress, but we got married at the courthouse right after," she told the outlet. "We are dumb and didn't realise that our Italian wedding would not be recognised unless we had a real ceremony in New York City. So Irina Shayk was our witness — the most beautiful woman on earth!"

In October 2015, Teigen announced via Instagram that she and Legend were expecting their first child together. "John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant :) As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family," she wrote in the caption.

In September 2020, Teigen and Legend had a pregnancy loss while Teigen was pregnant with their third child. In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Teigen shared emotional pictures from her hospital, writing, "We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn't enough."

Teigen and Legend surprised many when, in June 2023, the two announced on Instagram that they had welcomed their fourth child, Wren Alexander Stephens, with the help of a surrogate. In a lengthy post, Teigen explained that she was unsure if she could carry another child after losing Jack in 2020.

"As we crept toward the safe zone of my own pregnancy, we were overjoyed to learn Alexandra had become pregnant with a little boy. Our little boy," she explained. "We ate hot pot to celebrate, watched 'Vanderpump Rules' with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year."

The pair returned to their original wedding destination in Lake Como, Italy, for the special occasion. A source close to the couple told People, "It was very romantic . . . They arrived by boat . . .
