Janina Gavankar is voicing her support for Meghan Markle once again. After defending her friend of 17 years amid recent bullying allegations, the former True Blood actress made an appearance on ITV's This Morning on Tuesday to talk about what a "kind and generous" woman Meghan is. "She's really that girl you go to when you have a problem," Janina said of Meghan. "She's just utterly dependable and wonderful."
"I am not a royal expert, I am just a person who can gladly say the truth can finally come out."
Janina then spoke about Meghan's explosive tell-all with Oprah Winfrey, referencing Meghan's revelations about her mental health struggles and not having anyone to turn to in the institution, as well as Buckingham Palace's 61-word response to the interview. "After reading this short statement that came out from Buckingham Palace today, I thought two things," Janina said. "At one side, I thought, 'I'm so thankful that they are finally acknowledging the experience.' But on the other side, I know that the family and the staff were well aware of the extent of it, and though their recollections may vary, ours don't because we lived though it with them and there are many emails and texts to support that."
The actress also emphasised that she's happy we are finally in "a new era," but she made sure to make it clear that she wasn't speaking on Meghan or Prince Harry's behalf. "Things are different. They can tell the truth, we can tell the truth. We can finally say the things that they have. We can finally validate them and say everything they said is true," Janina stated. "I am not a royal expert, I am just a person who can gladly say the truth can finally come out." Watch her full interview in the video below.
