Meena Harris, Paloma Elsesser, and Yuna on Representation

Meena Harris, Paloma Elsesser, and Yuna on the Importance of Representation: "It's a Necessity"

In honour of Women's History Month, Meena Harris, Paloma Elsesser, and Yuna recently teamed up for a special episode of Coach Conversations to discuss the importance of representation and intersectionality. Paloma began by reflecting on her historic January Vogue cover, which was the first-ever styled by a Black woman, saying it was a "profound honour" and it brought her a lot of "pride and joy." Meanwhile, Yuna spoke out about her music career journey and what it's been like to have full control of her music as an indie artist. "It seems impossible, but if you put your mind to it, you can definitely just do it your own way," she said.

The women then emphasised the need for more female representation and making space for "different types of womanhood." "Representation not only feels good, it's imperative, it's a necessity," Paloma said. "It allows those women or people who identify as women to see themselves." Meena added, "We know that you can't be what you can't see."

Meena, Paloma, and Yuna ended the conversation on a fun note by playing a game of "Fill in the Blank," which included them revealing the first thing they do in the morning and their new quarantine hobby. Get ready to feel inspired and watch the video above now.
