During one of Megan and Brian's breakups, there were rumours that Megan was romantically involved with her Transformers costar. Megan and Shia filmed Transformers in 2007 and a sequel in 2009. In an interview with Details magazine in 2011, Shia confirmed that he and Megan were once romantic. "Look, you're on the set for six months with someone who's rooting to be attracted to you, and you're rooting to be attracted to them," he explained. "I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing."
However, it wasn't until 2018 that Megan finally confirmed the rumours herself on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live!. When asked if she and Shia ever dated, Megan replied, "I mean, I would confirm it was romantic. I love him. I've never been really private about that. I love him."
