The former Coronation Street actor died aged 85 on 28 Feb. According to the BBC, he died peacefully after "a long illness, with family by his side".
Between 1976 and 2006, Briggs played Mike Baldwin in the ITV Soap. He was made an MBE in the New Year's Honours in 2007, the year after his character left the series.
