Harry and Meghan Launch a UK Black History Month Campaign

Harry and Meghan Launch a Campaign to Recognise Black Trailblazers: It's "a Beautiful Thing"

In honour of Black History Month here in the UK, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have launched a campaign with the Evening Standard to recognise Black British trailblazers for challenging prejudice and their positive contributions to British society. In an interview with ES on Thursday, Harry spoke out about how he "wasn't aware of so many of the issues" that existed globally and that meeting Meghan was an "awakening" for him. He mentioned that "it is not about pointing the finger," but about educating yourself.

Meghan added, "When there is just, peaceful protest and when there is the intention of just wanting community and just wanting the recognition of equality, then that is a beautiful thing." The pair also recognised that the Black Lives Matter Movement and the introspection it has caused has been challenging for some. "Certainly having to make this reckoning of historical significance that has got people to the place that they are, that is uncomfortable for people. We recognise that. It is uncomfortable for us," Meghan concluded. You can watch their full interview above.
