I'm so excited to see Rachel Zegler as Snow White! The 20-year-old actor has already made a big splash in West Side Story, and now she's the first Latina to play the legendary Disney princess. With the announcement of Rachel cast as the lead, she received backlash for playing the character dubbed "as white as snow." The actor has also gotten broader backlash for the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs plot.

In response, Rachel told BuzzFeed: "There's not much I can say about it besides the fact that Snow White has constantly been criticized — even though she's the original Disney princess and we love her so much — but criticized for existing solely for a prince, existing solely to be rescued." She went on to hint at the future of the live-action remake, telling the outlet, "I think that our director, Marc Webb, and everyone who's working on this film has really taken her narrative and turned it into something that's a lot stronger. And I'm very, very excited to be able to bring that to life."

We have no doubt Rachel is going to kill it in this role. Sadly though, we have to wait until 2023, along with The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey. The new era of Disney princesses is exciting!
