Are Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell Dating? Let's Break Down the Rumours

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 24: Glen Powell (L) and Sydney Sweeney of

Celebrity watchers everywhere are talking about what's going on between actors Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney. Powell, 34, and Sweeney, 25, recently finished filming their upcoming rom-com "Anyone But You." While the duo were on set in Australia, they shared lots of photos where they seemed super close. Soon enough, rumours started to spread that the pair had become involved on set, despite the fact that Sweeney is engaged and Powell was believed to be in a relationship with model Gigi Paris. Powell and Sweeney appeared at CinemaCon on 25 April to support their new film, and they were glowing on the red carpet together. Here's what we know about Powell and Sweeney's romance rumours.

TMZ reported on 25 April that Paris had unfollowed Sweeney on Instagram. Paris, 30, and Powell were first linked in January 2020. TMZ followed that report up with another, noting Sweeney and Powell are not dating and Sweeney is still engaged to Jonathan Davino, 38, who works in the restaurant industry. A source added that Sweeney and Powell's flirty vibes are "tied to the rom-com." Reps for Powell and Sweeney did not respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment.

On 26 April, reports surfaced that Powell and Paris had split. The news broke shortly after Paris also unfollowed the actor on Instagram and posted a video of herself walking down the street, captioned, "know your worth & onto the next." Neither Paris nor Powell has officially confirmed the split. A source told People on 26 April that their breakup, which happened earlier in April, was not the first time they'd split. The source explained, "They had been on the rocks since 'Top Gun' came out. Gigi was never happy with the long distance filming and when she came to Australia they both decided to break up for good." Another source told the outlet that the split had "nothing to do with Glen and Sydney" and the breakup "wasn't about infidelity."

Powell first attracted fans when he starred in the 2018 rom-com "Set It Up," and he appeared in 2022's "Top Gun: Maverick." Meanwhile Sweeney broke out in "Euphoria" and season one of "White Lotus." Their new movie, "Anyone But You," is an updated version of Shakespeare's enemies-to-lovers classic "Much Ado About Nothing," in which Sweeney and Powell play college rivals who reunite at a friend's destination wedding, and sparks fly. The movie is directed by Will Gluck, who helmed "Easy A" and "Friends With Benefits." At CinemaCon, Powell said of the movie, "Sydney plays a character [who is] a real nightmare," while Sweeney called his character, "an assh*le," per People. "And what better place to put a nightmare and an assh*le than on the other side of the world in the most romantic setting imaginable?" Powell added.

So is there off-the-charts chemistry just marketing for the film? It would not be the first time. For example, many fans were convinced Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga were in love during the promotion of 2018's "A Star Is Born," but the pair were never romantically attached. But of course there are lots of couples who did meet on set and are still going strong. For now, it seems Sweeney and Powell are just marketing their rom-com (and it's definitely working).
