The First Trailer For the Hellboy Reboot Is Here and It Looks . . . Kind of Hilarious?

As an "early Christmas present," Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Hellboy a bit ahead of schedule. And, well, it looks like the film is really turning up the humour. Much in the vein of recent Marvel superhits like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok, the trailer is jam-packed with tons of upbeat, almost cheesy music, intense fighting sequences, and even a solid joke or two. I mean, don't get me wrong, David Harbour is looking great after that first look, and I'm glad to see Daniel Dae Kim's handsome face after that casting controversy.

But as for the question of whether or not the Hellboy reboot is necessary, and if it will be able to outpace its predecessor? That remains to be seen, and I wouldn't be able to offer an answer based on this trailer alone. It does look fun, though. We'll see how it all pans out on April 12, 2019.
