Over the course of several seasons of Game of Thrones, it's become clear that there's almost nothing Cersei Lannister wouldn't do for power. Her only soft spot seemed to be her children, and even that, like so much on this show, ended in tragedy. Although Cersei is supposedly pregnant right now, one detail in Sunday night's season eight premiere has us wondering if she's playing us all for fools.

Back in season seven, Cersei revealed to Jaime that, after the loss of their three children, they were going to have another child: the queen is pregnant again. It wasn't until the season seven finale, though, that the news becomes known to anyone else. Of course, it's the third Lannister sibling, Tyrion, who figures it out during a private discussion with his estranged sister during the summit between Lannister, Targaryen, and Stark, which forces them to discuss the White Walker threat. It's two specific details that lead Tyrion to figure out his sister's secret: the way she keeps her hand on her belly, and her refusal to have a glass of wine with him.

In the season eight premiere, though, Cersei is seen sipping on a glass of wine after hooking up with Euron Greyjoy. Since not drinking wine was used as one of the signals that she's pregnant in the first place, it's a detail that seems wildly wrong. Either the Thrones team just made a massive continuity error, or — more likely — it's a clue that there's more to Cersei's supposed pregnancy than we've been told.

Since it's unlikely that the show would make an error that glaring, that leaves us with the likelihood that it's a clue to some greater scheme. The thing is, we don't know what that scheme is. Theoretically, Cersei drinking wine, while in the presence of someone who doesn't know that she's supposedly pregnant (and who she presumably doesn't want to know if she is pregnant), would indicate that she's not actually pregnant after all. In that case, her claim would have been some sort of long con game on her brothers. At this point, she has realised that both of her brothers would betray her, since their morals no longer line up with hers, so it's possible that she's telling them she's pregnant in order to play on their morality and sympathy.

This also might explain Cersei's clear discomfort after Euron (grossly) told her that he'd "put a prince in [her] belly." It's also worth noting that the iconic prophecy about Cersei, which has defined much of her arc, only claims she will have three children; another baby would be her fourth. In any case, it won't be long before Cersei's long game — whatever it is — is revealed!
