Watch Netflix's Away Trailer

Netflix's Away Looks Like Interstellar, Only With Hilary Swank and Less Wormholes

When a trailer opens with "Clair de Lune" you know you're in for an emotional rollercoaster, and Netflix's Away isn't any different. "The only thing I've ever know for sure in my life, is that I wanted to be on the first mission to Mars," astronaut Emma Green (Hilary Swank) proudly states as her family (Josh Charles and Talitha Bateman) looks on. The upcoming series invokes Interstellar vibes, but as of right now it doesn't seem like there's anything outlandishly science-fictiony about it.

The series, set in the near future, follows Emma and her team of astronauts as they work to complete their mission; all the while their families back home face obstacles of their own. Since the show is executive produced by Jason Katmis, creator of Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, you can expect to feel every emotion possible in the 10-episode drama. I mean, watching the trailer alone I went from joy seeing Emma take off in the rocket to despair when Matt (Josh Charles) ends up in the hospital to hope hearing the astronauts talk about working together. Needless to say, I'm eagerly awaiting the show's premiere on Sept. 4.
