Love can be a cutthroat business. In the new Netflix film "Fair Play," "Bridgerton" star Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich play Emily and Luke, a couple who work at a super intense hedge fund in New York. When one of them gets promoted — and the other doesn't — their relationship is pushed to the brink. Netflix describes the movie as exploring "the true price of success," "the unnerving limits of ambition," and "the destructive gender dynamics that pit partners against each other."

"Fair Play," written and directed by Chloe Domont in her feature debut, was a major breakout in the 2023 Sundance Film Festival; Netflix paid $20 million for the film, according to Vanity Fair. "The thing about this film is that no one person is going to walk out of this movie feeling the same way as someone else," Domont told the outlet in an interview published on 8 Aug. "I'm here to slap people in the face, strangle them a little bit, choke them out. . . . I'm excited to open it up because I think it'll stir even more conversation and debate."

"Fair Play" is one of Dynevor's biggest projects since her starring role in season one of "Bridgerton." This January, she revealed she won't be returning for the third season, which is expected later this year. She's also set to star in the upcoming spy thriller "Inheritance" and the upcoming film "Anniversary" with Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, and Zoey Deutch. Ehrenreich, meanwhile, is receiving major praise for his performance in July's "Oppenheimer" and will also appear in the MCU's "Ironheart" series.

Ahead, here's what to know about "Fair Play," including when it'll be streaming on Netflix.
