On Feb. 7, National Geographic revealed the first-look teaser at the limited series, Genius: Aretha (not to be confused with Franklin's upcoming biopic Respect, starring Jennifer Hudson). In this small-screen rendering of Franklin's life, Erivo will portray the late legendary singer as she rises to stardom and navigates her newfound success. It will also explore the lasting impact Franklin made on the world of music and culture. "I want to make hits," Erivo declares in the 30-second clip.
