Everything We Know About Season 2 of HBO Max's Gossip Girl So Far

At the end of season one, Gossip Girl left audiences with a lot of burning questions about the future of the characters. Executive producer and showrunner Josuha Safran (who also wrote and produced the original series) spoke with Newsweek on what we can expect of the characters in the upcoming season, saying, "We're going to go into even deeper places than it has gone before."

Though Safran is tight-lipped about specific details, we can expect to see a continuation of where season one left off with even more emotional depth and complexity. Aki, Audrey, and Max are now officially a throuple, which probably won't go quite as smoothly as they initially think based on their history. Meanwhile, Julien will likely continue to deal with the sexual assault allegations against her father as she tries to bring down Gossip Girl. The fallout of all this, along with the show's other plotlines, will make for an enthralling second season.

Judging by the finale, we can anticipate that all the lead characters from season one will carry over into season two. Expect to see Julien (Jordan Alexander), Zoya (Whitney Peak), Obie (Eli Brown), Max (Thomas Doherty), Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind), Aki (Evan Mock), Kate (Tavi Gevinson), Monet (Savannah Lee Smith), and Luna (Zión Moreno) return.

Details for Gossip Girl season two, including info about any new cast members, are limited. However, creator Joshua Safran did allude to the possibility of some of the original CW Gossip Girl cast making appearances in the upcoming season. In an interview with The Daily Beast, he said, "The decision was: Let's get season one under our belt, and should we get season two, we'll have the chance to bring in cameos that are more than glorified cameos but actually give them storylines. Hopefully, we'll get there and will reach out to the cast if that time comes and see if they'll want to come."
