Of Course He's All That Pays Tribute to She's All That — See the Biggest Easter Eggs

Rachael Leigh Cook, who starred as Laney Boggs in She's All That, returns for the film. This time around, she plays Padgett's mother, a nurse named Anna Sawyer. Similarly, Matthew Lillard makes a quick cameo at the end. In the original, Lillard played the guy Taylor Vaughan (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) leaves Zackary Siler (Freddie Prinze Jr.) for, but in this film, he's actually the school principal.

You know the jerky reality star Lillard plays in the original? Well, that's essentially Peyton Meyer's character in the reboot. Each character in He's All That mirrors the She's All That characters in some way or form, whether that be how Tanner Buchanan's Cameron Kweller is super artsy like Rachael Leigh Cook's Laney Boggs or how Madison Pettis's Alden is a friend turned frenemy like Paul Walker's Dean Sampson Jr.

In the original, Zack's girlfriend breaks up with him after falling for a reality star named Brock Hudson at a pool party. In the reboot, a pool party is actually where Padgett and Cameron start developing feelings for each other. During karaoke, Padgett gets flustered when her ex Jordan shows up with his new girlfriend, so Cameron jumps on stage to help her sing the song. Later in the film, Cameron and Jordan have a heated confrontation by the pool at Alden's Gatsby-themed party.

In the prom scene, Padgett wears a bright red dress just like Laney wears a red dress in the "makeover" scene in She's All That. Seeing that Padgett wears pink throughout the movie, this seems to be an intentional nod to the original.

That random dance break at the prom might seem like it was added because of Addison Rae's TikTok background, but it's actually another reference to the original film. In She's All That, the students participate in a dance-off, with guys vs. girls.

In what might be the biggest reference to the original, He's All That ends with a cover of Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me," which is featured on the She's All That soundtrack. This time around, the song is performed by CYN.
