Listen to Lily James’s Debut Song as She Brings Chilled Vibes to New DJ Yoda Track

While Lily James is already a bonafide film and TV star, and has branched into modelling of late thanks to campaigns with Charlotte Tilbury and Versace, we still can't say we were expecting her to make the move into music just yet. Yet James's vocals can be heard on DJ Yoda's brand new single, titled "Breathe", as she sets her sights on the music industry.

The Emmy-nominated actor has teamed up with DJ Yoda as she lends her breathy voice to the single, the first song to open his album, "Prom Nite". Singing lyrics including, "The wavelengths meet, the ground and trees, all thoughts released, I'm healed", the laidback song is ideal for a mellow, chilled Sunday evening. While there's no official music video starring James, there is a conceptual visual to accompany the song. So just how did this unexpected collaboration come about? "Lily used to live downstairs from me, and we always talked about making some music together," DJ Yoda said. "It wasn't easy wit her insane schedule, but we eventually made it happen. We talked about our music tastes, found common ground, and tried to make something interesting. I'm super happy with the results!"

We already knew James could hold a tune. Having sung a number of hits from her breakout role in the 2015 film "Cinderella", including the iconic "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", she went on to star as a young Donna Sheridan in the 2018 film "Mamma Mia Here We Go Again". Singing hit songs like "Mamma Mia" and "When I Kissed the Teacher", James previously credited the film for helping her regain her singing confidence. "I loved singing as a kid and then I stopped and I would never get up and do karaoke," she told The Mail on Sunday. "I lost my confidence and then suddenly I was forced to embrace it full throttle. I had to release my inner pop star again."
