Jake Johnson Stars in HBO Max's Minx

Jake Johnson Goes '70s Grunge in HBO Max's Sexy "Minx" Trailer

The trailer for HBO Max's newest series, "Minx," has arrived. The show, set in 1970s Los Angeles, centres around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), a young feminist who wants to create a magazine that will make a difference in women's lives. The male-dominated publishing industry, however, isn't interested in what she has to say — until she meets a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) who's willing to give her idea a shot. There's a caveat: between Joyce's smart and incisive articles, erotic images of men will be included to entice women.

Created by Ellen Rapoport, the show's cast also includes Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano and Oscar Montoya. The show is Johnson's first major TV role since ABC's "Stumptown" ended in 2020. Johnson, of course, became a fan favourite on "New Girl," where his curmudgeonly Nick Miller became an unlikely heartthrob. Meanwhile, Lovibond has appeared in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Elementary." The ten-episode series starts streaming on HBO Max on March 17, with two new episodes dropping weekly.
