Everything You Need to Know About "Never Have I Ever" Season 3

Netflix announced the show will return for its third season on Aug. 12. Season four, which will air in 2023, will be the final season.

We can expect most of our main ensemble cast to return, which includes our lead gal, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), her best friends Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) and Eleanor (Ramona Young), and family — mom Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) and cousin Kamala (Richa Moorjani). By the end of season two, Paxton (Darren Barnet) and Devi are together, but Ben (Jaren Lewison) — her former flame and rival turned friend — has lingering feelings for her even though he's taken, so we can expect that love square to continue to simmer into the next season.

So far, Netflix has cast Anirudh Pisharody to appear in five episodes. He will play Nirdesh, an Indian American teen who attends an elite private school and might end up being Devi's new academic rival. Viewers may recognise Pisharody from Fox's "9-1-1," where he plays a firefighter named Ravi Panikkar.

Before the show was renewed for a third season, several of the cast and crew speculated about the characters and what they wish for them. In July 2021, Darren Barnet told POPSUGAR he'd like to see Devi and Paxton as an "exclusive couple."

"There's a lot more for Devi to learn about Paxton, for Paxton to learn about himself, and for Devi to learn about herself. And when that all comes to fruition, who knows? They may fall in love or realise they're better as friends or absolutely hate each other, so you never really know," Barnet continued.

In a separate interview with "Entertainment Tonight," cocreator Lang Fisher also said she wants to see Devi's family relationships evolve in the new season. "It'd be nice to see them kind of lean on each other a little more. We introduced her grandmother [Nirmala] this season, who is this amazing actress [Ranjita Chakravarty] and she just brought this whole other dimension and kind of filled a little bit of the void that Mohan [her father] left."

Netflix has yet to release a trailer for "Never Have I Ever" season three, but the trailer for season two hit YouTube in mid-June, one month before the season's premiere. So fans can probably expect a trailer around July!
