Paramore’s Hayley Williams Performs "Misery Business" With TikTok Sensation PinkPantheress

They say never meet your idols, but for singer PinkPantheress the saying was blown straight out of the water after she joined Paramore's Hayley Williams on stage at the Austin City Limits festival. On 16 Oct., during their second show of the event, Williams brought the TikTok star on stage to sing "Misery Business".

A visibly emotional PinkPantheress arrived on the stage carrying her handbag and wearing no shoes as she joked they were hurting her. The singer, who shot to notoriety after her song "Pain" went viral on TikTok in January 2021, has credited Williams for inspiring her to get into music so there was no doubt this was to be a momentous occasion for her.

"Thank you for letting me on this stage, it's so amazing. I'm doing music because of you," she said to the 75,000-strong crowd. "I'm not going to get into it, I just love you so much!" PinkPantheress wiped away tears from her eyes before she belted out a passionate rendition of the huge Paramore hit, despite the band announcing in 2018 that they would no longer be performing the song due to some of the controversial lyrics. "We wrote a song that now, as a 29-year-old woman, I don't know that I'd use the same language," Williams, who is officially dating bandmate Taylor York, said at the Nashville convert at the time. However, Paramore has since made a u-turn thanks to Billie Eilish, who brought Williams on stage during her Coachella 2022 set to sing the hit together.

PinkPantheress then took to her Instagram stories to post a video of the moment, adding "stop why am i not wearing shoes FFS I LUV PARAMORE U CHANGED MY LIFE hayley williams you are my world, my truth and the air i breathe". It's safe to say she really is a true fan. And with her own musical career on an upward trajectory, it's only a matter of time before the winner of BBC's Sound of 2022 poll will be pulling in similar crowds in her own name.
