When a college student (played by Kyle MacLachlan) returns home and discovers a severed ear in a remote field, his investigation leads him to sultry lounge singer Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini), who draws the student into her dark, twisted world, which includes a violent psychopath (Dennis Hopper) with bizarre sexual proclivities.
