With Punk, Young Thug follows up his debut album So Much Fun, which was released just in August 2019. Back in August, the rapper planned to release his new album in just two months. While Punk will be a couple months late, the idea behind it should more or less be the same. With Punk, he explained to The Fader that the album title, to him, meant "brave, not self-centreed, conscious, very, very neglected, very misunderstood, very patient, very authentic."
