The big news was revealed in a series of videos where Usher gets a call from Kim Kardashian, Deion Sanders, Marshawn Lynch, and Odell Beckham Jr. using footage from his "Confessions Part II" music video.
In a press release, Usher said of his upcoming gig, "It's an honour of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. The "Boyfriend" singer reflected on the esteemed accomplishment in an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, sharing that only a "close-knit group of people" knew about the news before the world found out. "We're really excited about the entire thing. Obviously, a legacy, but more than anything, the fact that this is the grandest stage to play on," said the dad of four.
Usher's Super Bowl halftime show is set after his final Las Vegas residency shows, which kick off again in October. The King of Las Vegas will then return to the city in February for his grand performance, which will air live on CBS along with the championship football game.
