Elle Woods may not have been a princess, but she did struggle to fit in at Harvard. Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) has the same struggle in The Princess Diaries. After finding out she's royalty, her grandmother the queen orders a makeover. Mia has suddenly gone from a nobody to the most popular girl in her high school, which is tough to navigate. She can't tell who actually wants to spend time with her and who's just using her for her fame. She learns, though, who her real friends are when things start to come crashing down around her and finds that popularity is fleeting.
