Gabrielle Union's Pretty Little Wife Series Adaptation

A "Pretty Little Wife" Series Adaptation With Gabrielle Union Is in the Works

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 19: Gabrielle Union attends the season 3 premiere of Apple TV+'s

Gabrielle Union has her hands in another upcoming book adaptation — this time, a series she's set to star in and executive produce with Amazon Studios. On April 24, Deadline reported that Darby Kane's 2020 bestselling suspense novel, "Pretty Little Wife," will soon make its way to the small screen with Meredith Lavender, Marcie Ulin, and Kristen SaBerre onboard to write and executive produce the TV project for Amazon Prime Video.

The outlet also noted that the show is described as a "cat-and-mouse thriller with a pulpy edge and some sexy soap that centres around two brilliant — and very different — Black women: Lily, the pretty little wife suspected of murdering her husband, and Ginny, the detective on the case." The synopsis adds, "Upon entering each other's lives, they begin to crack open each other's façade to reveal what really lies beneath."

Further details about the forthcoming series, including additional cast members and a release date, have yet to be announced (POPSUGAR reached out to Amazon Studios but did not receive an immediate response).

"Pretty Little Wife," executive produced by Union via her I'll Have Another Productions, isn't the only book-to-TV project the actor is involved in. Her long-awaited rom-com with friend and costar Keith Powers, "The Perfect Find" (also from her production company), hits Netflix on June 23. The sexy new film sees the two stars as colleagues-turned-lovers whose romance gets complicated because of their professions — and the fact that Union's character dates her boss's son (Powers).

Elsewhere, Union also executive produced 2022's "The Inspection," which she starred in alongside Jeremy Pope, and her upcoming "My Journey to 50" docuseries special, coming to BET+ on June 15, per Variety — which highlights her recent travels across Africa in honour of her 50th birthday.
