Gabrielle Union Takes a Trip to Ghana With Dwyane Wade and Kaavia: "Felt Right at Home"
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are already relishing their memories of Union's 50th birthday celebration. The pair have been travelling Africa in honour of Union's big day, and she shared a glimpse of their adventures in a Nov. 2 Instagram video. "Ghana owes us nothing, but gave us EVERYTHING! @kaaviajames felt right at home WadeWorldTour2022," Union wrote in the caption.
The family travelled from Zanzibar, Tanzania to Accra, Ghana on Oct. 31, per Ghana Web. They even received honourary Ghanian names, with Wade given the name Kwesi Sarfo and Union's being Akosua Safo.
Union's actual 50th birthday was on Oct. 29 and she celebrated with a surprise birthday party in Tanzania. "I'm still processing the level of effort and planning that went into pulling off such an unbelievable 50th birthday party in Zanzibar Tanzania and keep the details a surprise from my nosy self," she wrote in an Oct. 30 Instagram post. "I'm beyond grateful for all of my loved ones who flew around the world to celebrate with me."
Union and Wade also brought their 3-year-old daughter Kaavia along for their trip to Ghana. Wade is a dad to five kids — he has a son with ex Aja Metoyer, another son and daughter with former partner Siohvaughn Funches, an adopted nephew, and Kaavia, who he shares with Union. The couple often shares sweet glimpses of Kaavia online, with Union posting a photo of their daughter wearing a "Little Mermaid" costume in early October in celebration of Halle Bailey's take on the role.
