The Bachelor Contestants Hold Back Tears as They Address Online Hate and Harassment

The Bachelor addressed a very serious issue during the "Women Tell All" episode on Monday night. After the ladies from Peter Weber's season took a walk down memory lane and aired out their differences, former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay took the stage to address the online hate and harassment the women have received on social media. "It's so unfortunate because people have become so comfortable being mean, and meaner than ever, on social media," she told Chris Harrison. "If we're ever going to fix this problem, we have to acknowledge the problem."

She also talked about how when she was chosen as the first Black Bachelorette in 2017, she really wanted to "pave a way for women who look like me who hadn't been represented in this role on this show." However, after seeing the constant hate the contestants are still receiving, she feels like her "efforts are in vain." "It seems to be getting so much worse," she continued. "I feel like you guys see us talk about the hate we receive, but you have no idea what it actually is."

Rachel then went on to read some of the hateful comments the women have received online, including death threats, name-calling, and racial slurs. "I'm shaking as I'm reading this because it's shocking, it's uncomfortable," Rachel said through tears. "I know how uncomfortable it is for you to see. Just imagine how uncomfortable it is to get this in your comments and your DMs every day, every week, every month. And that's just a tip of the iceberg." Watch her powerful video in full above.
