Revenge Porn: Georgia vs Bear ITV Documentary

Georgia Harrison Speaks for the First Time About Revenge Porn in New ITV2 Documentary

Former "Love Island" star Georgia Harrison is leading a new ITV2 documentary about being the victim of revenge porn, as her traumatic experience with ex-boyfriend Stephen Bear played out publicly. In a clip, released on Instagram on 14 March, she speaks for the first time about the incident, and all that followed, in a bid to raise awareness of the crime in "Revenge Porn: Stephen vs Bear".

"I was silenced for so long and I literally suffered in ways the public really never got to see," she begins in the video, which sees her vulnerably speaking directly to the camera. "This documentary is about my personal revenge porn story and how this crime is affecting individuals and society in general. I also hope to educate the younger generation on the seriousness of this crime and just how devastating it can truly be. I really want to help inspire other victims of revenge porn and let them know that they have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of."

The incident involved a video of Harrison having sex with Bear, which was captured on CCTV cameras in his garden in Loughton, Essex. When Bear showed her the footage, she asked him to never send it to anyone, only to discover he had. She was then notified of it circulating online weeks later, having been shared online without her consent in August 2020.

Bear was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on 3 March to 21 months in prison after being found guilty of two counts of disclosing private sexual images with intent to cause distress, as well as receiving a majority verdict of 10-2 on the count of voyeurism. Harrison bravely waived her right to anonymity, and has documented her experience in a new ITV documentary, which premieres on 20 March. "My hope is that by sharing my story, I can bring some faith and reassurance to those who have suffered from similar experiences," she tells viewers.

As well as his 21 months in prison, Bear was given a restraining order to not contact Harrison for five years, ordered to sign the sex offenders register, and will need to disclose his whereabouts to the police for 10 years. The Crown Prosecution Service said the former Big Brother star had shown "a complete lack of remorse", according to the BBC, and was even filmed posing for selfies outside court ahead of his sentencing.
