Tell Me Lies: Trailer, Cast, and Release Date

Grace Van Patten Stars in Hulu's Twisted New Romance Series, "Tell Me Lies"

In a newly announced coming-of-age romance, Hulu takes a twisted approach to the typical college love story, setting the scene for an emotional rollercoaster fuelled by passion and betrayal. On Aug. 2, the streaming platform released the trailer for "Tell Me Lies," based on the bestselling 2018 novel by Carola Lovering. The 10-episode series tells the story of a young college student named Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) who finds herself in a toxic relationship that's too enthralling to escape.

"'Tell Me Lies' follows a tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolds over the course of 8 years," the show's synopsis reads. "When she meets Stephen, Lucy sees a dark streak in him that she recognises in herself, and will inadvertently bring her demons to light . . . Together they will embark on a tumultuous journey, with repercussions that neither could have predicted."

As Lucy's relationship with her campus crush, Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), develops, she comes to realise that the negative effects of their entanglement will permanently damage both their lives and those of everyone around them.

"Tell Me Lies" Cast

"Nine Perfect Strangers" star Grace Van Patten will take the helm as Lucy Albright, a "sheltered but well-adjusted girl" from a wealthy family in Long Island. While her cool exterior has earned her the title of "Ice Queen," Lucy's confidence is a coverup for her unaddressed childhood trauma. Playing opposite Van Patten's Lucy will be Jackson White as Stephen DeMarco, a charming, fiercely-intelligent man with an "enigmatic quality." When Lucy discovers Stephen's dark side, she's terrified to see her own darkness unleashed.

The cast will also include Catherine Missal as Lucy's best friend Bree; Spencer House as Wrigley, an athlete struggling with hidden insecurities; Sonia Mena as Pippa, Lucy's frenemy; Branden Cook as Evan, a "nice guy" with repressed anger issues; "Teen Wolf's" Benjamin Wadsworth as Wrigley's shy, younger brother Drew; and "The Society's" Alicia Crowder as Diana, an Audrey Hepburn-esque personality with close ties to Stephen's past.

The show is executive produced by Emma Roberts, Karah Preiss, and Meaghan Oppenheimer, who is also the showrunner.

"Tell Me Lies" Release Date

"Tell Me Lies" will premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
