Tom Hardy Returns to CBeebies Bedtime Stories

Tom Hardy Returns to CBeebies' "Bedtime Stories" to Celebrate 75 Years of the NHS

Cancel your evening plans as Tom Hardy is returning to CBeebies to read another Bedtime Story. The "Venom" actor first sent kids to sleep, and parents into a frenzy, on New Year's Eve 2016 and his CBeebies "Bedtime Stories" have since been streamed over two million times on BBC iPlayer. The reaction to his kid's stories was so great, showing Hardy's softer side in contrast to his hard man on-screen persona, that he is returning on 5 July to help mark 75 years of the NHS.

"I'm sitting here with the birds singing and the sun shining. I feel really good. Especially as I'm about to read you a bedtime story," he says in the teaser video on Instagram. "But I don't feel good every day. In fact, we all get poorly from time to time and, when we do, sometimes we need a bit of extra help to get better. Brilliant people like nurses and doctors can help us feel better. Any many others with exciting sounding jobs like radiographers and paramedics."

Hardy goes on to explain he will be reading "Zog and the Flying Doctors" by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the NHS in the video, as he sits alongside his beloved French bulldog, Blue. And fans will be thrilled to hear this is the first of six new stories the actor has recorded for CBeebies.

The series has become something of a British phenomenon with A-list stars being chosen to read educational and entertaining bedtime stories. Harry Styles read Jess Hitchman's "In Every House, on Every Street" last year, while "Bridgerton"'s Regé-Jean Page read "Rain Before Rainbows" by Smriti Halls and David Litchfield in 2021. Orlando Bloom, Ryan Reynolds, and Dolly Parton have all got comfy for a nighttime read, too. Even the Duchess of Cambridge has appeared on the series, as she narrated "The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark" by Jill Tomlinson to mark Children's Mental Health Week. Tune in tonight to relax and unwind to Hardy's voice – the kids might even enjoy it, too!

CBeebies Bedtime Story is on each weekday at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
