The family then met on the lawn for a chat, before heading to the royal box, where they had the best view of all the action from day one. The dress may have been slightly risky (Royal Ascot has a notoriously strict dress code when it comes to showing skin), but it was perfectly coordinated with the queen's own similarly hued ensemble. Kate's dress is a modified version of a look from the Elie Saab Resort 2019 collection, which is made up of a macramé detail top with a pussy bow and a knee-length layered net skirt with dot details. She topped her ensemble with a tilted hat that featured flowers on one side, and was very similar in shape to the one she chose for Trooping the Colour a couple of weeks ago.
