Summer wardrobe, meet your new throw-on-and-go essential that will have you looking party-ready in a flash. With a shirred or smocked top mini skirt, all you have to do is literally pull it on over your hips, throw on anything from a cotton T-shirt for day to a silk cami for night, and you're good to go—no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
I first met the smocked top skirt when I was in high school and, while I took a markedly long hiatus from the trend, have come to rediscover it's ultra-feminine ease-of-wear in the past few seasons and quickly see this summer as shaping up to be the height of my smocked mini skirt love.
While smocked skirts rule supreme when it comes to their girly flounce, simple styling, and range of prints and colours to choose from, the biggest selling point to me is how flattering the style is on nearly every body type. Hugging your every curve in a way that still hides any lumps or bumps you might not want to specifically call attention to, you'll feel like the best version of yourself, every time you slip one on.
