Shopping for jeans is notoriously difficult. There are so many factors to consider, from fit and comfort to trends and pricing. And when it comes to denim in particular, a pair of jeans may look great on but not have enough give to wear all day long. Known for its viral exercise dress that took TikTok by storm, Halara recently launched pants that solve all your denim-shopping woes. Halara's denim-alternative assortment features bottoms that look like denim but actually feel like leggings.
HalaraMagic Denim has released different silhouettes that come with elastic waistbands and no zippers, reminiscent of the jeggings of 2010. They're designed with a two-way stretch fabric that makes them extra comfy and lightweight, but they have the texture of regular jeans. Plus, Halara's jeans are available from sizes 0 to 16 at an affordable price point ranging from $30 to $70.
Three PS editors tried out three different styles from the collection, including bootcut, wide-leg, and cargo silhouettes. Like many shoppers, we have complicated relationships with denim, but the test was met with overwhelming approval. We agreed the bottoms look like typical jeans and can be styled as such but feel buttery soft and offer a cosy stretch without compromising on fit. One editor even wore them for Thanksgiving dinner a few weeks ago, so that alone should tell you just how comfortable they are. HalaraMagic Mid Rise Bootcut Jeans
"Even before I tried the HalaraMagic Mid Rise Button Pockets Stretchy Knit Casual Bootcut Jeans ($45, originally $60) on, I could tell they were going to be incredibly comfortable. The material feels soft to the touch and lightweight. These jeans are stretchy and flexible, which is why I even wore them to Thanksgiving dinner this year. They feel like a pair of leggings or yoga pants, yet look and fall like denim jeans. Ever since I got these jeans, I've been gravitating towards them more often than not. One thing to note is that I'm 5'1" and these jeans are a tiny bit long on me. "I'd heard about the wonders of Halara's 'magical denim' and form-fitting pant styles but have always been weary about just how universally comfortable and flattering they actually are. As a 5'10" woman with a curvier shape, pants shopping hasn't always been the easiest task for me — especially when I'm shopping online.
I can honestly say these HalaraMagic High Waisted Button Pockets Washed Stretchy Knit Casual Wide Leg Jeans ($45, originally $55) exceeded all of my expectations and then some. The bottoms are supremely comfortable, with a lightweight design that's composed primarily of the brand's signature HalaraMagic material. These casual pants slip right on without an adjustable button closure up top, which is a feat in itself considering I can't even remember the last time I didn't have to wiggle my way into a pair of jeans.
Despite its denim-like design, the pants fit more like a wide-leg legging — courtesy of the bottom's extra stretch at the waist and breathable material. I love everything about them right down to the colouring (I opted for the dark blue denim shade), and also appreciate that because of their mid-calf length, they're a style that I can wear year-round, regardless of the temperatures. "I've always sorted my jeans into two categories: standing jeans with a fit I love but that are a little too snug for sitting in all day, and sitting jeans that I can comfortably wear for hours on end, but may not be the most flattering pair I own. I've found a select few gems over the years that I gravitate toward both style- and comfort-wise, and these HalaraMagic Mid Rise Multiple Pockets Straight Leg Stretchy Knit Casual Cargo Jeans ($40, originally $60) are now one of them. Their stretchy waistband with no button or zipper makes it feel like I'm wearing sweats or leggings, but they appear to look just like classic cargo jeans. Since I'm 5'2", I opted for the petite fit, which offers a 30-inch inseam as opposed to 32.
