Rosalía must have access to a time machine, because her latest OOTD sent us right back to 2003. On Feb. 27, the "Motomami" singer shared photos of herself testing out the exposed thong trend in a low-rise denim skirt covered in dozens of shredded cutouts. In true Y2K style, she paired the outfit with knee-high boots, a cropped tank top, hoop earrings, and black fingerless gloves.
Ahead of her 2023 world tour, the "Chicken Teriyaki" singer took some time to party, hang out with friends, and work on some music, all while dressed like a 2000s fashion mogul. The low-rise skirt featured a raw waistline cut several inches below where a button would usually sit, similar to Julia Fox's DIY bandeau top and matching jeans. Rosalía's high-waisted black thong peeked out just above the waist, pairing perfectly with her scoop-neck top.
The light-wash fabric also featured at least four rows of horizontal slits beginning at the front of the skirt and encircling her waist. The distressing resulted in dozens of miniature cutouts, making the floor-length skirt a cross between two of our favourite early 2000s styles.
While we've seen the cheeky exposed thong trend on celebrities like Dua Lipa, Rosalía's take on the ensemble feels decidedly Y2K from head to toe. Other celebrities to test the low-rise look over the last few months include Millie Bobby Brown, Hailey Bieber, and Sydney Sweeney.
See how Rosalía put her own spin on the nostalgic fashion trends above.
