Calorie-Saving Hacks

These Simple Food Swaps Will Save You Calories Without Sacrificing Flavor

Oftentimes, food swaps for weight loss aren't as flavourful or satisfying as the real thing. But there are simple tricks you can use in the kitchen to save you calories without compromising the good stuff — it's a win-win! Dietitian Paula Norris posted some helpful calorie-saving hacks that will change how you eat from now on.

  • 200g of regular mince = 100g of lean mince and 100g beans (save 140 calories and get 6g more fibre)
  • 40g of cheddar cheese = 20g of parmesan (save 45 calories)
  • 1 cup of mashed potato with butter = half a cup of mashed potato and half a cup of mashed cauliflower (save 95 calories)

So simple! Dieting doesn't have to mean swapping out your favourites completely. As long as you keep portions in mind, you can still have (half) your cake and eat it, too.
