Weight Loss Tip About Consistency

These 2 Photos Prove That You Can Eat Ice Cream and Still Lose Weight

These two photos posted by dietitian Leanne Ward illustrate a very important rule about losing weight. While one bad meal won't break you, one healthy meal won't win you the medal of health, either.

"Consistency is key," and one lifestyle approach that illustrates this beautifully is the 80/20 rule. You eat healthy 80 percent of the time, and 20 percent of the time, there's wiggle room to satisfy cravings for treats like ice cream, wine, or french fries. This means if you eat three meals a day, three of those meals every week are your splurge meals.

Registered dietitian Sheri Kasper also supports (and follows!) the 80/20 lifestyle, and agrees that you can see results without being 100 percent restrictive. Actually indulging a little each week will make you more successful at sticking to an overall healthy diet.

So go ahead and enjoy yourself a few times a week โ€” it's all part of a healthy, balanced diet. Just remember that this is a small treat, so devour one scoop of ice cream, not the entire pint!
