Being the new year - so many of my clients have started crazy diets to shed the December gains ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Iโ€™m just here to remind you guys that healthy = balanced, moderation, healthy = still being able to enjoy your favourite foods, healthy = not punishing yourself with exercise & healthy = enjoying occasional treats!! ๐Ÿค— You can still see results without restricting everything in your diet or spending a ton of money on expensive supplements โœ–๏ธ Remember: One ice cream wont blow your healthy eating plan and eating one salad a week wonโ€™t make you loose weight. The key to a healthy lifestyle is consistency!!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ The 80/20 approach has always been my favourite - wholesome meals always loaded with salads & veggies the majority of the time with a little ice cream or wine occasionally too ๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸฆThanks to my girl @meowmeix for the pic inspo ๐Ÿ’— Tag a friend below who needs to hear this ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ . . . . . . . . . . #icecream #healthylifestyle #weightloss #vegetables #salad #cleaneating #nutrients #weightlossmotivation #moderation #motivation #dietitian #eatgoodfeelgood #eatthisnotthat #fitfood #gains #2018 #fitfoodporn #abs #eatforabs #nutrition #wholefoods #healthyeating #nutrition #eatmoreplants #bbg #eatforhealth

These two photos posted by dietitian Leanne Ward illustrate a very important rule about losing weight. While one bad meal won't break you, one healthy meal won't win you the medal of health, either.

"Consistency is key," and one lifestyle approach that illustrates this beautifully is the 80/20 rule. You eat healthy 80 percent of the time, and 20 percent of the time, there's wiggle room to satisfy cravings for treats like ice cream, wine, or french fries. This means if you eat three meals a day, three of those meals every week are your splurge meals.

Registered dietitian Sheri Kasper also supports (and follows!) the 80/20 lifestyle, and agrees that you can see results without being 100 percent restrictive. Actually indulging a little each week will make you more successful at sticking to an overall healthy diet.

So go ahead and enjoy yourself a few times a week โ€” it's all part of a healthy, balanced diet. Just remember that this is a small treat, so devour one scoop of ice cream, not the entire pint!
