So even though, I feel vulnerable doing so, I'm hitting send with confidence that I'm connecting with others and I challenge you to do the same. I have been overweight my entire life. I always knew I was extremely overweight. I always found comfort in food, whether it be alone or in the company of others. I can’t tell you how many different fad diets I started, hoping for immediate results. Those results never came. I even did the counting calories thing, with some success, but I didn’t follow-through. All of this occurred up until I was in my mid-twenties. I remember the day I decided that enough was enough. I wanted to get healthy and I was determined to make it happen. The following story was the catalyst that drove me to the counter at @weightwatchers My best friend asked me to be in her wedding. (Un)fortunately my dad’s surprise party was going to be on the same day of the wedding, so I told her I wouldn’t be able to be in the wedding. Secretly, I felt relieved because in all honesty, I didn’t want to ruin her pictures. My best friend’s wedding! I didn’t want to “ruin her pictures” standing in a bridesmaid dress at 286 pounds. I didn’t tell her my initial thoughts at the time. Of course that was my interpretation and my best friend would never think I ruined her pictures. I was using this as an excuse, which my life was full of at this point. My confidence was low, but my excuses high. My dad’s party ended up being canceled (he found out about it and didn’t want one – ha). So I sat in her reception, relieved that I didn’t “ruin” her pictures, but then it hit me. I was sitting back nesting on my excuses for not being able to be in her bridal party, when I needed to take a stand and solve the problem. The very next day (Sunday) I decided I would be joining Weight Watchers. I never turned back.
